We are often unaware of it: our breathing. Our breathing is a basis for life and an important contribution to our health.

Our breathing is also strongly connected to tension and emotions, the most powerful example is to hold your breath in tension.

A quick breathing is often a sign of tension in your body and goes along with various symptoms of stress, such as:

  • fear
  • agitated feeling
  • irritability
  • fatigue
  • perspire
  • feeling fainting

Symptoms such as a headache, pain in the shoulders and neck can also be caused by too rapid breathing. Becoming aware of your breathing is an important step in improving awareness of the quality of your breathing and hence your relaxation and quality of life.
